Jaipur is probably the first planned city of India built by Sawai Jai Singh. 


The city colored in Pink is the largest and the capital of Rajasthan. Known for its rich culture and tradition, magnificent art, artifacts and wonderful history, the city is surrounded by spectacular hilltops and stunning fortresses.

It is a major tourist attraction attracting both national and international tourists. The serene temples, the long standing forts and palaces, and beautiful havelis with royal ethnicity add to the glamour. 

Again the beautiful landscapes, marvelous flora and fauna and picturesque views create a mesmerizing view of the capital city. But this is not it; the intricate handicraft items and exquisite jewelry also attract a huge chuck of tourists.

  • The capital of the largest state of India.
  • Multilingual population with majority of people speaking Marwari, Hadauti but the official language being Rajasthani.
  • Situated at an altitude of 431 m from Sea level with a hot and humid temperature ranging from 45°c in March to June which goes
    down to 22° c in December.
  • Annual rainfall received in 650 mm, which makes it a lot more greener region in otherwise mostly desert state.
  • Houses two well reputed Universities ranked among the top in India
  • A major educational hub producing about 10% of engineers in the region and has several high standard institutes.
  • With a population of around 66.5 lac, the largest city in Rajasthan by population.

Historical Facts:



  • Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II founded the city on 18th November 1727.
  • The city was painted in terracotta pink as a grand welcome to the Prince of Wales by Maharaja Ram Singh. Since then it gained a unique identity as the Pink City.
  • Vastu Shastra, the vedic planning of the Hindus adopted for the comfort and prosperity has also been incorporated in the planning.
  • Gaitore is the royal cremation site of rulers of Jaipur situated 15 km from Jaipur.
  • The Central Museum located in the centre of the Ram Niwas Bagh is the oldest museum of Jaipur.
  • Sambhar is the largest saline lake in India which is located 60 km from Jaipur.
